ASL-P44-05-040 The Alaska Railroad had a huge impact on tourism to Mount McKinley National Park. Although the park was established in 1917, it was not a tourist attraction until the completion of the railroad station in 1923. Capitalizing on the impending tourism boom, the Mt. McKinley Tourist & Transportation Company was established, providing transportation to the Savage River Tent Camp and the only accommodations in the park, as well as around the park.
